EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Poetry Project Positive messaging to support mental well-being, awareness, and engagement PROJECT OVERVIEW The Poetry Project is a free-to-use initiative that places positive, empowering, and motivational messages in public areas, workplaces, social media, and community settings. Its purpose is to promote well-being, raise awareness of mental health issues, reduce stigma, and encourage people to pause, reflect, and feel motivated. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES • Promote positive mental health and emotional well-being through visible, accessible messaging. • Help make mental health discussions less taboo and more approachable. • Support employee motivation and workplace productivity with positive messages. • Enable customized campaigns that align words, design, and placement with an organization’s needs. DEMONSTRATED REACH AND APPLICATIONS Since 2018, the project has delivered campaigns in the United Kingdom, Australia, America, and beyond. Examples include public murals at 21 Moorfields in London, a positivity campaign with Nokia, displays at Network Rail and Royal Horticultural Society gardens, and student-led well-being campaigns at universities. The model is adaptable across public spaces, workplaces, community campaigns, social media, schools, and educational settings. LEADERSHIP CONSIDERATIONS • Potential value: a visible and approachable way to reinforce well-being, inclusion, and positive culture. • Scalability: content can be deployed through physical displays, murals, internal communications, and digital channels. • Engagement model: organizations collaborate with the project to select messages and designs suited to their needs. RECOMMENDED DISCUSSION FOR MEETING NOTES Determine whether the concept aligns with current employee well-being or community-engagement priorities. If there is interest, define the intended audience, preferred communication channels, internal sponsorship, and criteria for evaluating the initiative before considering a pilot.
