HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-07-01 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD July 1, 2024 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, July 1, 2024 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Approval of Minutes dated May 7, 2018 Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Brett Gierak #WS 7677 07/24 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held June 3, 2024 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Jackson, Little 2. Letter dated June 12, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Felicia Jenkins, 19157 Inkster Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6578 07/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Jenkins the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 an Eight (8) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD July 1, 2024 Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 3. Letter dated June 24, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Scott Farnsworth, 18255 Gillman Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6579 07/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Farnsworth the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated June 13, 2024 in the amount of $48.48. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 4. Letter dated May 31, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Janice Jackson, 14123 Hubbard Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Greg Jones REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD July 1, 2024 #WS 6580 07/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Jackson the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated June 13, 2024 in the amount of $257.77. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 5. Letter dated June 17, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Charise Samuels, 37716 Lancaster Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Candy Little #WS 6581 07/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms.Samuel the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated June 7, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Henna Cacani, 37473 Kingsburn Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6582 07/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Cacani the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated April 19, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Douglas Snodgrass, 30100 W Six Mile Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6583 07/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Snodgrass the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. At the request of the petitioner, the account at 30100 W Six Mile will be put on a “payment plan”, whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. If required, an M2 reading device will be installed at the residence within the next thirty days. During the Twelve (12) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. Letter dated June 24, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Barbara Gray, 8924 Denne Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6584 07/24 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated June 26, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Tara McCall, 20100 Floral Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6586 07/24 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Nine (9) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated June 12, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jason Mitchell, 27600 Schoolcraft Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD July 1, 2024 #WS 6587 07/24 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Letter dated June 26, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Sherwood Noel, 28455 Elmira Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6588 07/24 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Chicago Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6589 07/24 RESOLVE, the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective July 1, 2024 a Six (6) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The next meeting of the Water and Sewer Board is scheduled for Monday, August 5, 2024 at 5:00pm. Upon a motion by Valerie Jackson, seconded by, Candy Little, the meeting was adjourned at 6:00pm.
