HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-06-03 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD June 3, 2024 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, June 3, 2024 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Approval of Minutes dated May 6, 2024 Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6566 06/24 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 6, 2024 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Jackson, 2. Letter dated April 4, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Julie Leff, 32112 Pembroke Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6567 06/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Leff the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective June 3, 2024 a Six (6) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD June 3, 2024 Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalties dated April 15, 2024 and May 15, 2024 respectively in the amount of $167.32 and $61.16. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 3. Letter dated May 7, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Michael Wedzina, 16311 Westbrook Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6568 06/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Wedzina the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective June 3, 2024 an Eighteen (18) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. At the request of the petitioner, the account at 16311 Westbrook will be put on a “payment plan”, whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. If required, an M2 reading device will be installed at the residence within the next thirty days. During the Eighteen (18) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025, 2026 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. Letter dated May 31, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Annette Skelly, 30654 Westfield Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Rich Skaggs #WS 6569 06/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Skelly the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective June 3, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated May 15, 2024 in the amount of $96.96. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 5. Letter dated May 15, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jinny Bodnar, 11033 Merriman Motioned by Valerie Jackson seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6570 06/24 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Ms. Bodnar the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective June 3, 2024 a Twelve (12) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD June 3, 2024 this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2025 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Letter dated May 7, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Charlotte Neary, 17491 Woodside Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6573 06/24 RESOLVE, Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective June 3, 2024 a Six (6) month extension at the end of which the account will have a zero balance, including all new bills generated during that time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Letter dated May 31, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Janice Jackson, 14123 Hubbard REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD June 3, 2024 Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6574 06/24 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the June 3, 2024 meeting. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 10. Letter dated May 17, 2024 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Valerica Cheraru, 18635 Canterbury Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6575 06/24 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the June 3, 2024 meeting. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 11. Letter dated April 19, 2023 from Superintendent of Public Service, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Douglas Snodgrass, 30100 W Six Mile Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6576 06/24 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does deny and will take no further action on the request of the above customer, due to the fact that they did not appear at the June 3, 2024 meeting. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD June 3, 2024 The next meeting of the Water and Sewer Board is scheduled for Monday, July 1, 2024 at 5:00pm.
