ZONING BOARD
Nov.30,1948
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Livonia Township Zoning
Board, held in the Township Hall, Thursday, Nov. 30th, 1948.
This meeting is a Public Hearing to consider petitions for
changes in Zoning.
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 P.M. by Chairman Johnston.
Members present: Carson Johnston, George Bentley, Robert Rewey
Walter Russell and Attorney John Ambrose.
Mr. Bentley reads the Legal Notice of Public Hearing,
Petition No.1, requests change
following described property:
The area bounded on theNorth,by,.,the.,
Northerly boundary of Lot 62,-of the
Westmore Subdivision on the East by an
imaginary line, which is parallel to
Farmington Road and which is 110 ft.
distant; on the South to a distance of.
80 ft. to the North boundary of the
adjacent C-2 zone, and on the West,
Farmington Road, described as Lot 62,
63, 64, 65, of Westmore Subdivision,
to be changed from an R-1-C to a C-2;
said area being located on Zoning Map
No.1.

No one was present who was interested in this change.
Petition No.2, requests change in Zoning from AG-1-C to an
M District on the following described property:
The area bounded on the North by Eight
Mile Rd., on the East by Merriman Rd.,
on the South an imaginary line, which
is parallel to Eight Mile Rd. and which
is 300 feet from the south edge of the
said Eight Mile Rd.; and on the West
by 0smus Avenue to be changed from an
AG-1-0 requirement to an M requirement;
said area being located on zoning map
No.1.
An explanation of. the M District was read from the Zoning Book
by Attorney Ambrose, who also explained that it differed from the Si
district in the height allowed for the buildings.
Four persons present were in favor of the change, No one against.

Petition No.3, request a change in Zoning from R-1-B to C-1,
on the following described propartys
The area bounded on the North by Six
Mile Rd.; on the East, the westerly edge
of the present C-1 requirement, which is
approximately 240.09 feet east of the
eastern edge of Rougeway Drive; on
the South an imaginary line which is
parallel to Six Mile Rd., and which is
100 feet from the southerly. edge of the
said Six Mile Rd.; and on the West by
Rougeway Drive, to be changed from an
R-1=B requirement to a C-1 requirement;
said area being located on zoning Map
No.l.
Attorney Ambrose reads the uses in a 0-1 District.
The petitioner, Mn. Slapinkas, was present with her attorney,
Judge Kohler, also several of the adjoining property owners were
present.
The Realtor, Mr. Thos. O'Connor, claims it was an error to
include the corner lot at Rougeway in this petition, as the sub-
division restrictions do not permit any business in this subdivision
within 126 feet East of Rougeway Drive.
Judge Kohler claims that his client did not ask for the
change clear to Rougeway. Re presented an Abstract from which
Attorney Ambrose read the restrictions of record for Lots 1 to 207
Parkwoods Subdivision. These restrictions state that Lots 147 to
154 may be used for retail business purposes but not for manufacturing.
After considerable discussion, Chairman Johnston requests a
showing of hands. for the change to 0-1 on Lots- 146, 147, 148.
No one was for the change - 11 against it.
Chairman Johnston no asks for a showing of hands for changing
Lots 147 and 148 to C-1.
Four were for the change, 9 present against. Four letters of
objection were also received.
Petition No. 4 is for a change in Zoning from AG-1-C on the
following described property;
The triangular area bounded on the West by
the east intersection line of Ann Arbor Rd.
and the Ann Arbor Trail; thence along the
northerly edge of Ann Arbor Trail to a point
150 feet from the easterly intersecting point
of Ann Arbor Rd. and Ann Arbor Trail; thence
northerly to a point along the southeasterly
edge of Ann Arbor Rd. which is 200 feet east

The following recommendations are made to the Township

Rewey, the Board recommends the change in Zoning.
Petition No.2 - On motion by Mr. Bentley, seconded by Mr. Russell,
the Board recommends this change.
Petition No.3 - On motion by Mr. Bentley, seconded by Mr. Russell,
the Board does not recommends any change in the Zoning.
Petition No.4 - On motion by Ivir. Russell, seconded by Mr. Bentley,
the Board recommends this change.
Petition No.5 - Action on this petition was postponed, due to a
clerical error in the Legal Notice. This Board recommends that this
be republished for a hearing at the Dec. 30th, 1948 meeting.
There being no further business to Dome before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned by Chairman Johnston at 10:20 P.M.
