regular meeting of the Livonia Township Zoning;.
Board, held in. the Township Hall, Marsh 25th, 1948.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Johnston at 8 P.M.
Members present: Carson_ Johnston, Chairman, Ooorge N. Bentley,
and Walter Russell.
Mr. Waiter Russell was welcomedto the Commission by all other
members. br. Russell of 27460 Plckford, has been nppotnted by the
Probate Court of Mayne County, Mich., to fill the vacancy caused by
the resignation of George L. Isbell.
On motion by Mr. Bentley, seconded by Mr. Russell, the minutes
of the meeting of Feb. 26th were adopted as read.
Mr. Paul Kar., of Kar Construction Company, 51;3 P1. Vernon,
Dearborn, appeared before the Board concerning a now type of home
they wish to build in this Township. Mn. John E. Mendenhall of
Celotex Corpn. was also present. Gr.Gpd. e
The homes are to be built of Ceetat-ens„ a product of Celotex
Corpn., with 10" floor joists, girder type truss to parry the roof,
and 24" centers.
Homes of this type are already being built in other parts
of the state, have F.I.A. approval, And sell from 0$7500 to $9200.
Plans and photographs were studied.
The building inspector, Mr. Mason, stated that these buiiings
would not conform to the present Building Code.
Mr. .Bentley suggests that one home of this type could be
built in the Township a-s a sample.
A suggestion from Mir. Ziegler that severni members of the I;oard
and the Building Inspector make the trip to Kalamacoo and inspect
the homes already built in that city.
It was agreed by all members that such a trip would be to the
best advantage and plans were made to go on March 30th, and Mr.
Mendenhall agreed to be there with Mr. Kar to show the homes.
There beingno further business to come before the Board, on
motion by ;•fir.. Bentley, seconded by Mr. Ruesell, the meeting was
adjourned at 9 1'.2 by Chairman Johnston.
