MINUTES OF MEETING OF LIVONIA TOWNSHIP PLANNING BOARD,
HELD AT LIVONIA TOWNSHIP HALL, WAYNE COUNTY, MICH. NOV. 24, 1944
MEETING CALLED TO ORDER AT 8/15 PM - PRESENT,

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING WERE APPROVED.
THERE APPEARED BEFORE THE BOARD MR. CHARLES P. OPPERMANN
ADDRESS 14221 NEWBERG ROAD, ACCOMPANIED BY SEVERAL OTHER PROPERTY
OWNERS FROM THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD, WHO REQUESTED THAT THE AREA
EXTENDING ABOUT 1/2 MILE ON T HE WEST SIDE OF NEWBERG ROAD AND
ABOUT 1/2 MILE ON T HE NORTH SIDE OF SCHOOLCRAFT ROAD, KNOWN
AS "SCHOOLCRAFT ESTATES" BE CHANGED FROM AN R-I DISTRICT TO
AN R-I-F DISTRICE. MR. OPPERMANN STATED THAT THE PEOPLE PRESENT
WITH HIM REPRESENTED ABOUT 75% OF THE IMPROVED PROPERTY IN THE
"SCHOOLCRAFT ESTATES" DISTRICT. THIS MATTER WAS TAKEN UNDER
CONSIDERATION .
LOUIE C. ESCH OF 19704 MIDDLE BELT ROAD APPEARED BEFORE
THE MEETING REQUESTING PERMISSION THAT HERMAN WITT, OWNER OF LOT
#437, IMMEDIATELY ADJOINING MR. ESCHE'S PROPRTY, BE PERMITTED TO
ERECT ACHICKEN HOUSE WITHIN FOUR FEET OF HIS PROPERTY LINE, FOR
WHICH STRUCTURE THE CONCRETE FOUNDATION AND FOOWINGS HAD ALREADY
BEEN INSTALLED AND BUILDING PERMIT WITH -HELD BY BUILDING INSPECTOR
RAY OWENS. THIS REQUEST WAS APPROVED.
MR. RAYMOND BRYANT, 12141 INKSTER ROAD APPEARED TO REQUEST
PERMISSION TO ERECT SMALL COAL STORAGE HOUSE ON HIS PROPERTY AT
SAME ADDRESS, SAID COAL HOUSE TO BE BUILD ON THE ALLEY LINE AND
ON THE SAME LINE WITH HIS GARARGE. THIS REQUEST WAS GRANTED.
MR. ROBERT HERNDON, REPRESENTING "S. H.. A. REALTY CO". OWNER
OF PROPERTY IN THE EFFECTED AREA REQUESTED THAT T HE DISTRICT ON
THE NORTH SIDE OF PLYMOUTH ROAD EXTENDING FROM DEERING ROAD TO
INKSTER ROAD BE CHANGED FROM AN R-I TO A C-1 DISTRICT. ON MOTION
BY ISBELL, SECONDED BY FENSKE IT IS RECOMMENDED THATTTHIS CHANGE
BE INCLUDED IN REVISED ORDINANCE NOW UNDER CONSIDERATION.
A PETETION WASPRESENTED BY RESIDENTS OF THE DISTRICT BOUNDED
BY BRENTWOOD ST. ON T HE WEST, ANGLING ROAD ON T HE EAST, SEVEN MILE
ROAD ON THE STOW SOUTH AND EXTENDING NORTH TO THE DISTRICT NOW
CLASSIFIED AS R-I-F, REQUESTING THAT THIS DESCRIBED AREA BE
CHANGED FROM R-2 TO R-I-F. IN VIEW OF NONCONFORMING CONDITIONS
NOW EXISTING IN T HIS DISTRICT AND IN CONSIDERATION OF THE DISTRICT
BEING SUBDIVIDED INTO PARCELS OF 3/4 OF AN ACRE OR MORE IT IS THE
OPINION THAT A CLASSIFICATION OF R-I-F IS MORE APPLICABLE TO THE
DISTRICT AND THIS BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT IT BE CHANGED FROM R-A (R-2)
TO AN R-I-F DISTRICT.

BUILDING INSPECTOR RAY OWENS PRESENTED PLANS OF PROPOSED BUSINESS
BUILDING TO BE ERECTED BY MR. VICK KINSLEY AT THE SW CORNER
OF PLYMOUTH ROAD AND ARDEN. THIS PLAN PROVIDES FOR BUSINESS PLACES
FRONTING, OR OPENING, ON ARDEN. THIS BOARD IS OF THE OPINION THAT
THE ORIGINAL RESTRICTIONS IN ROSEDALE GARDENS PROVIDES FOR BUSINESS
PLACES FRONTING ONLY ON PLYMOUTH ROAD. IN VIEW OF TRAFFIC CONDITIONS
THIS WOULD.CREATE ON ARDEN AND IN CONSIDERATION T HaT.T HIS WOULD MAKE
A BUSINESS STREET OF ARDEN, CONTRARY TO THE ORIGINAL INTENTIONS
IN ZONING THIS DISTRICT THIS BOARD IS OPPOSED TO THIS PLAN.
ON MOTION BY ISBELL, SECONDED BY FENSKE, THE MEETING
WAS ADJOURNED, SUBJECT TO CALL BY CHAIRMAN JOHNSTON.
