Meeting of the Livonia Township Planning
Township Hall May 18th, 1942.
Members present were as follows:
Carson Johnst on, Chairman
William Fenske
Harry S . Wolfe, Assi st-an t Secretary
T. Glenn Phillips, Planner
Kenneth Parker, Assistant Planner
The meeting was called to order by Carson Johnston at 8:30 P.M.
Floyd Raze of 27523 West Six Mile Road appeared before the
Planning Board inquiring about the way zoning would affect his
building nova being used for a restaurant.
Mr. Phillips explained to Mr. Raze that under the set-up,
his place would be operating under a nonconforming use, and that
if business was discontinued for one year, his property mould revert
to residential property. He explained to Mr. Raze that this would
not stop him from getting a beer or liquor license. After having
this explained to him, Mr. Raze expressed his opinion that zoning
would not injure his property.
The Planning Board acted on the following questions as
referred back by the Township Board after having the several
hearings and the final' hearing.
The first to decide on was an inquiry of Mr. McQueen,
representing Ira Wilson, owner of large tracts of land in Livonia
Township. Mr. McQueen asked tint Plymouth Road be all put under
business property. The decision of the Planning Board was that
the present plan provided sufficient area for local business.
The question then came up regarding a decision of the

property owned by Mr. Jenkins of 28004 Seven Mile Road in Section 1,
Livonia Township, and surrounding a reas. after a lengthy discussion
in which it was brought out that several of the Zoning Board members
had gone to Mr. Jenkln's home and discussed the situation with him,
and after due consideration Of the surrounding homes, the Planning
Board was unanimous in the decision that the property should be left
as local business, as pr-eviously decided.
The question was brought up by Hoy Thorpe of 28102 Joy load,
regarding the property at this address, upon which, is a hardware
store. Mr. Thorpe desired said property zoned as local business.
After some discussion the board deeded that it would not he
injurious to zone this property and all frontage on Joy Road,
East to Inkster Road.
It was decided at this meeting that the usual distance
provided for local business corners would be 300 feet from corner
along road and. 150 feet deep.
Moved by V`dilliam Fensi_se, supported by Carson Johnston,
that these changes and adjustments be approve d an d referred back
to the Township Board. Carried.
