PLANNING BOARD
February 13, 1942.
Meeting of the Livonia Township Planning Board was called
to order at 8:30 P.M.
Members present were as follows:
Carson Johnston
George Bentley
William Fenske
The purpose of this meeting was to hear suggestions from
representatives of the Pere Marquette Railroad and to hear from
Hiram Hees, Secretary of the Sheldon Land Company.
After hearing the proposed Zoning plan, Mr. Hess appeared to
be satisfied with the plan affecting property near Rosedale Gardens
as explained by the Board,
Mr. May and Mr. Slayman, representatives of the Pere Marquette
Railroad, appeared before the Board.
The Board asked these men what they would recommend doing with
the property adjoining the Pere Marquette Railroad tracks.
The suggestion of these men was that the Board leave all of
Sections 25, 26, 27, the North 1/2 of Section 28 and 30, and the East
1/2 of Section 29.
Mr. William Fenske read a letter from Knight-Menard Company,
Real Estate Brokers, stating that the FHA would not object to establish-
ing light industry bordering the railroad tracks adjoining Alden Village,
and in view of the fact that Knight-Menard are handling several hundred
acres of land controlled by the Plymouth Road Development Company,
they would be in favor of light industries along the railroad tracks.
After some discussion, it was moved by William Fenske, supported
by George Bentley, that the Planning Commission recommend to the
Township Board that the matter of whether or not a Building Code shall
