Reviewed Budget for 2019-2020 submitted by Jim Kline.
PUBLICATIONS $75
MEMBERSHIPS $125
STATE OF THE CITY $150
HEADSTONE RESTORATION $3,000
SUPPLIES $900
COMMUNITY AWARENESS/PROMOTIONS $750
COMMISSIONER EDUCATION/CONFERENCES $300
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL $5,300
Motion 02/01: K. Glynn makes a motion to approve the budget as created by Jim Kline.
K. Waterbury seconds. All approved.
New/Old Business: Livonia Center Cemetery sign is installed. Cemetery Headstone
repairs: Discussion on Clarenceville and Newburg Cemeteries. Should consider asking
for money in the budget for the fence at Clarenceville. Get estimates now and then ask
for it in June. The fence and gates will likely cost more than $5,300, which is why we
need to ask for additional funds. We may need to pay for repairs over a course of 3-4
years.
Motion 02/02: Kristin Waterbury makes a motion to repair headstones at the Newburg
Cemetery for 2020. Kathie Glynn seconds. All approved.
Historic Preservation month is May. Ideas for resident participation discussed.
Happily Ever After discussed. Theme this year is generational gowns (sets of
grandmother, mother, daughter, etc.) Need to get gowns out and start setting them up.
Colleen Petersen, Betsy Calhoun, and Kathie Glynn have been working on the gowns.
Flyers need to be distributed. K. Waterbury will go to Civic Center Library, R. Bakewell
will go to 7 Mile library, K. Johnson-Bartshe will go to Senior Center and City Hall.
Motion 02/03: Ralph Bakewell motions to advance $500 out of the trust fund monies for
Happily Ever After. Kristin Waterbury seconds. All approved.
Civil War Tea discussed. Theme needs to be determined. We will do a tea instead of
luncheon or dinner. Speaker to be determined. Maureen Casey has a few people in
mind.
Motion 02/04: Kristin Waterbury motioned to have fund up to $1,000 advanced for the
Civil War Tea. K. Glynn seconded. All approved.
Current Issues: Orson Everitt House on 7 Mile: Looking to rezone property from light
manufacturing to office, no issue with this rezoning. Gary Bloom was at the Planning
Meeting and said potential new owners were thinking of turning it into a spa.
Ford Mill on Newburgh has sold.
Certified Local District Review: Commission should talk with Linda, K. Johnson-Bartshe
left summary for her at home. Documents she had at home had all the main talking
points. Opportunity to get matching funds/grants to do more preservation work. Possibly
approach Council about the review and use the condition of the Clarenceville fence and
sign to convince them to approve the designation.
B. Calhoun’s daughter worked at retyping our cemetery workbook into excel. This will
allow for easy editing and adding of notes re: stone condition, repair work, etc.
Greenmead Updates- Emily Tchorz-Fielder:
Contacted Cornerstone Painting to get estimates to repaint wall where wallpaper was
not restored in the Hill House. Leftover adhesive has caused some discoloration on the
walls. Will begin with the dining room, map room, and parlor and circle back to
bathroom and Mrs. Hill’s bedroom. Hinbern roof was completed yesterday (2/4) and
foundation crack was fixed today; another crack was repaired but the sealant may not
hold up as this isn’t its proper use. Water is coming into various basements on the
property. Sent photos to a few companies to see if repairs can be done, no responses
yet. Repairs are likely to be costly. Parsonage windows repaired upstairs (glass was
cracked). Windows also work appropriately now. New caretaker Jeff Ronayne has
moved in. He will be taking over daily building checks. He is also doing some interior
updates on his own. New door ordered for the west entrance of the Church. Will be a
custom replica door built by Randy Klepinger. Old door is rotting and has many cracks.
Met with Canterbury Glass about the stain glass windows in the Church. Awaiting date
to remove windows for restoration. Trying to avoid repairing them during wedding
season.
Frozen Fun event went well. Lots of kids, very cute. Valentine’s Day Tea is sold out.
Farmhand’s House exhibits are almost back together thanks to Mary Cambridge,
Vaughn Stecker, and Dick Gassel. Plan to open for tours this summer.
Walk On Items: Possibly do something with the Hill Family. Dusty Donigan is interested
in contacting the Hill Law Firm and building a relationship with them.
