HomeMy WebLinkAboutELEC COMM - 2018-07-11 MINUTES OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA, MICHIGAN A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia, Michigan, was held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Livonia City Hall, 33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan at 3:30 P.M., at which time and place the following members of said Commission were present: Present: Dennis Wright, Mayor Paul Bernier, City Attorney Susan Nash, City Clerk Also Present: Lori Miller, Deputy City Clerk Susan Nash assumed the duties as Chairperson of the Election Commission. Upon a motion by Commissioner Wright, supported by Commissioner Bernier, it was: RESOLVED that the minutes of the Election Commission meeting held on June 19, 2018 are hereby approved. Roll Call Vote: Commissioner Wright: Yes Commissioner Bernier: Yes Commissioner Nash: Yes Upon a motion by Commissioner Wright, supported by Commissioner Bernier, and unanimously adopted, it was: RESOLVED that the Election Inspectors, Chairpersons, and Receiving Board listed on the attached schedule hereto, and made part of these minutes are duly adopted to the Election Board for the State Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Upon a motion by Commissioner Wright, supported by Commissioner Bernier, and unanimously adopted, it was: RESOLVED that if any of the Election Inspectors on the official approved list for this election cannot complete their assignment Minutes of the Election Commission Meeting of July 11, 2018 Page 2 because of unforeseen circumstances, they will be replaced by a fully trained, experienced Election Inspector from the list of workers that have been entered into the Qualified Voter File (QVF) and is contained on the master list. Upon a motion by Commissioner Wright, supported by Commissioner Bernier, it was: RESOLVED that the compensation for Tuesday, August 7, 2018, shall be $140 for each Election Inspector, $170 for each Co-Chairperson, $190 for each Chairperson and $240 plus mileage for each Roving Chairperson. Additionally, Absentee Counting Board Inspectors will receive $150 and Counting Board Chairperson(s) will receive $180. Part-time inspectors will receive compensation at the rate of $10.00/per hour. Furthermore, persons using their cell phones (one (1) per precinct) will be compensated $10.00 for the day. Chairperson Nash indicated pay rates for workers would be the same this year for the Primary Election but would be reassessed before the General Election in November. Chairperson Nash indicated if there was sufficient funding in the current budget, the rates for precinct workers could possibly be increased for the General Election. Chairperson Nash indicated an Election Commission meeting would be called to discuss same before the rates were increased in November. Upon a motion by Commissioner Bernier, supported by Commissioner Wright, and unanimously adopted, it was: RESOLVED that the City Clerk and the City Clerk’s staff shall prepare all election precinct supplies and certified ballot containers for use in the Tuesday, August 7, 2018, City General Election. Upon a motion by Commissioner Wright, supported by Commissioner Bernier, and unanimously adopted, it was: RESOLVED that the City Clerk and the City Clerk’s office staff will perform the preliminary logic and accuracy testing on all ImageCast Tabulators and Voter Assisted Terminals (VAT) ballot marking devices prior to the Tuesday, August 7, 2018, State Primary Election.
