HomeMy WebLinkAboutPLANNING MINUTES 1979-04-03 6957 MINUTES OF THE 327th SPECIAL MEETING HELD BY THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA On Tuesday, April 3, 1979 the City Planning Commission of the City of Livonia held its 327th Special Meeting in the Engineering Building, 13325 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan. Mr. Andrew, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 10:45 p.m. Members present: Daniel R. Andrew Suzanne Wisler Jerome Zimmer Joseph J. Falk Herman Kluver C. Russell Smith Robert Morrow Members absent: Judith Scurto Esther Friedrichs Messrs. John J. Nagy, Planning Director; H. G. Shane, Assistant Planning Director; and Ralph H. Bakewell , Planner IV, were also present. On a motion duly made by Mr. Zimmer, seconded by Mr. Falk and unanimously adopted, it was #4-52-79 RESOLVED that, pursuant to a Public Hearing having been held on March 20, 1979, the City Planning Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council that the Preliminary Plat for Laurel Park Professional Center proposed to be located on the south side of Six Mile Road, west of Newburgh Road in the Northeast 1/4 of Section 18, be approved for the following reasons : (1) The proposed Preliminary Plat is in full compliance with the P.S. Zoning District regulations, the zoning classification of the property involved. (2) The Preliminary Plat is in full compliance with the Subdivision Rules and Regulations of the City of Livonia. (3) All reporting City departments have no objection to the proposed Preliminary Plat. (4) The proposed Preliminary Plat is well laid out providing for good physical development for the balance of the lands remaining within the P.S. District so as to provide for an attractive professional office development compatible to, in harmony and appropriate with the surrounding development of the area. FURTHER RESOLVED that, notice of the above hearing was sent to abutting property owners, proprietor, City departments as listed in the Proof of Service and copies of the plat together with notice have been sent to the Building Department, Superintendent of Schools, Fire Department, Police Department and Parks and Recreation Department. Mr. Andrew, Chairman, declared the motion is carried and the foregoing resolution adopted. 4 6958 On a motion duly made by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Zimmer and unanimously adopted, It was #4-53-79 RESOLVED that, pursuant to a Public Hearing having been held on March 20, 1979 on Petition 79-1-3-1 as submitted by Marvin R. Stempien requesting the vacating of the south 1/2 of Leon Avenue located north of Ann Arbor Road, west of Newburgh Road in the Northeast 1/4 of Section 31 , the City Planning Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council that Petition 79-1-3-1 be approved subject to the retention of a full- width easement for public access over that portion of the subject right- of-way lying east of the west line of the vacated Horton Avenue right-of- way, for the following reasons; (1 ) No public utility company or the Wayne County Road Commission objects to the vacating. (2) The Engineering Division of the City of Livonia has no objection. (3) No public purpose can be served by the retention of subject road right-of-way in public ownership. (4) The subject road right-of-way area can be best used in conjunction with development of adjacent lands. FURTHER RESOLVED that, notice of the above Public Hearing was published in the official newspaper, The Livonia Observer, under date of March 1 , 1979 and notice of such hearing was sent to the Detroit Edison Company, Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Company, Michigan Bell Telephone Company, Con- sumers Power Company and City departments as listed in the Proof of 4 Service. Mr. Andrew, Chairman, declared the motion is carried and the foregoing resolution adopted.
