MINUTES OF THE SEVENTH REGULAR tETING
OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF LIVONIA.
The seventh regular meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of
Livonia was held on the 27th day of December, 1950, at the City Hall, 33110
Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan.
The meeting Was called to order at 8:10 P.M. by the Chairmen, Mr. George
Bentley. Roll was called with the following result:

Members Absent: Clarence Jahn Harold Bower
Carson Johnson
Mr. William Brashear, City Pttorney, and Mr. Waring, Planning Consultant,
were also present.
There being no objections or corrections to the minutes of the previous
meeting which was held December 13, 1950, copies of which were mailed, the
Chairman declared the minutes approved.
The Chairman gave a brief report of the meeting he attended of the Detroit
IL Regional Planning Commission held in Detroit on the lath day of December, 1950.
He also gave a report of his meeting with Mr. rplph Burton regarding his pro-
perty which has been under consideration for a Civic Center. A committee con-
sisting of George Bentley, Harold Power and one other member, if possible, is
to call on Fred Burton, Sr. at Cass Lake to determine what can be worked out
regarding the 5 acres he owns.
On a motion made by Robert ;McIntyre, seconded by Dallas nay, end unani-
mously carried, it was
RESOLVED, that the date of the Public Hearing be changed
from January 10, 1951 to January 17, 1951.
The Secretary brought before the assembly a Waring & Johnson statement
which had been approved for payment at the previous meeting. Some members
of the Commission protested the :')63.00 charge for drawing up an amendment to
the Zoning Ordinance and rightly so since the City Attorney had not been con-
sulted regarding the matter.
After much discussion a motion was made by Dallas Hay end it was
RESOLVED, that no service be requested of Waring & Johnson
over and above that covered by the agreed retainer fee
except by resolution; that such services be confined to
1 engineering or planning technical work; that all matters
of a legal nature be referred to and performed by the

City Attorney; that all services performed over and above
those covered by the retainer fee be described in detail
E in all invoices rendered, said invoices to state number
of hours on each item and rate per hour.
The foregoing motion was seconded by Edwin Conway and unanimously carried
by the affirmative vote of all members named as present in the roll call.
Petitions '24A. and 24E were presented to the assembly. After dis—
cussion, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried and it was
RESOLVED, that Messrs. George Bentley and Robert LacIntyre inves—
tigate the request in said petitions, and it was
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Attorney check the law to
determine whether it is necessary to hold a Public hearing
on a petition requesting the closing of an alley; if not,
the proper procedure for the Planning Commission to follow.
I,:r. Clarence Koffman, of the Parks & Recreation Commission, reported
on that piece of property west of Farmington Road owned by 'r-ayne County.
Wayne County proposes to make a park of said piece of land;plans are in the
blue print stage and the County is willing to develop the land. The City
of Livonia may have the use of same.
On a motion made by Walter Russell, seconded by Dallas Hay and unani-

RESOLVED, to adjourn this meeting until the 17th day of January,
1951, at which time a Public Hearing will be held.
The meeting thereupon adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
