MINUTES OF THE FOURTH REGULAR MEETING
OF THE PLANNING CO=SSION OF
THE CITY OF LIVO • IA
The fourth regul:•.r meeting of the Planning Commission of
the City of Livonia was held on the 30th day of August 1950,
at the City Hall, 33110 FiveMile Aoad.
The meeting was called to order at approximately 8:15 P.M.
by the Vice Chairman, Carson Johnston.
All members were present with the exception of Mr. George
Bentley. 1:'_r. Waring was present, and Yr. Lonnie Brashear
appeared for Mr. William rashear, City Attorney.
The chairman, Lr. Carson Johnston, asked the assembly if
it was necessary for the Secretary to read the minutes of the
meeting held August le, 1950, since all members of the commission
had received a copy.
Upon a motion duly made by Edwin Conway, seconded by Robert
MacIntyre, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, that the minutes of the last meeting
be not read and stand approved.
Upon a motion duly made by obert Mac ntyre, seconded by
Edwin Conway, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, to return the cutler 's petition,
Petition 7.`11, to the Council since petitioner
requested it be cancelled.
The Secretary read a letter dated August 17, 1950 from the
Board. of Rayne County lioad Commissioners regarding change of
street names for Purvis, stating they had no objection. Letter
turned over tc Mr. ra.shear.
The assembly had an informal discussion regarding the
proposed tentative Civic Center and location.
Upon a motion duly rale by Robert 1iacintyre , seconded by
Harold Power, and unani-aously carried, it was
RESOLVED, That Yr. Edwin Conway again appear
before the City Council to explain the
thought of the Planning; Commission 's endeavcr
to have the City Council to appoint a com-
i mittee to investigate just how much of the
proposed land could le obtained for a Civic
Center and what the cost would be.

The Secretary read a letter dated August 11, 1950, from
i Er. W. P. Edmonson, Assistant Director of the Detroit Pvetropol-
itan Regional Planning Commission, 1002 Cadillac Square Build-
ing, Detroit, Michigan, requesting a list of all industrial
plants, location, and what they make.
Upon motion duly made by Harold Bower, seconded by Edwin
Conway and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, that Hr. laring answer letter from
Yr. Edmonson, giving requested information.
Upon a motion duly made by Harold Bower, seconded by
Robert haclntyre and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission under-
stood that Wayne County contemplates creating
a Public Park on that area in Section 21 of
the City of Livonia; bordered on the North
by Lyndon Avenue, South by Purth Avenue,
East by Farmington Road, and Vest by Stark
Road, and recommends to the City Council
that the Building Inspector be instructed
that before a permit is issued to build
in this area that he contact Kayne County
Park Commission,
and it was
FURTRER RESOLVED, that any petitioner for
building permits in this area be advised by
the City of Livonia Bureau of Permits of the
County's intention of turning said land into
a Public Park.
Upon a motion duly made by Harold Bower, seconded by
Edwin Conway, and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED, to adjourn this meeting until Sep-
tember 13, 1950, at 8:00 P.M.
The meeting thereupon adjourned at approximately 9:30 P.M.
