HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2015-12-10 th MINUTES OF THE 716 REGULAR MEETING LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION th The 716 Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third-floor conference room at City Hall on Thursday, December 10, 2015; it was called to order by Chairperson Jim Policelli at 7:30 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners: Jim Policelli, Gordon Draper, Thomas Ambers, Kevin Priddy, Jim Keller; City of Livonia Police Sergeant Joseph Boitos; and City of Livonia Engineer Todd Zilincik. Agenda Item 1: The minutes of the November 12, 2015, meeting was reviewed. Commissioner Draper offered approval to submit the minutes as written and with support from Commissioner Ambers, it was approved by majority vote that: 15-203 RESOLVED, the minutes of the November 12, 2015, were approved as written. Agenda Item 2: Follow-up items from last month: Franklin High School, section 35. A letter from the school was submitted to the Mayor’s office. A meeting had taken place to discuss the concerns of Franklin at the County level. Also, the County Commissioner’s office has been notified of the concerns, as has Mayor-elect Wright. Todd noted that a possible replacement of the street lighting on the Livonia side of Joy road is being looked into by DTE with an estimate being obtained. Levan street signage, section 20-21, will be replaced to correctly match prescribed requirements of the MMUTCD. The work should wrap up by the end of the year. TCO for “No Outlet” signs on northbound Hix at 5 Mile, section 18, and two additional “No Outlet” signs on Bell Creek Lane and Loveland respectively, section 10, will be further decided in January once Sgt. Boitos has had some time to research the TCOs. Two additional “No Outlet” signs with subscripts reading “to Farmington Road” need to be properly replaced or removed. Stop Sign requests on Bretton Street and Osmus Street, section 3. Sgt. Boitos feels this is more of a speeding issue. Data does not reveal any crashes at that location in recent years. Todd did respond to the individual requesting the sign. Grantland and Inkster traffic light timing, section 25. Request to have timing on the intersection light reset to normal timing was completed by Wayne County crews. It had been changed to accommodate construction on Inkster Road, which has been completed. Chairman’s Comments: Chairperson Policelli informed the commission that Sgt. Boitos will be retiring from the Police Department in January. His replacement will be Sgt. Brian Leigh who will become the Police Department’s new Traffic Bureau Sergeant and will begin meeting with the Traffic Commission in January. The Commission thanked Sgt. Boitos and wished him well in his future endeavors. Roundtable Discussion: Nothing to report.
