OF THE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION
The 646th Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor
conference room at City Hall on Thursday, May 14, 2009 and called to order by
Chairman Joe Steele.
PRESENT: Commissioners Gordon Draper, Jim Policelli, Kevin Priddy, Cindi Quinn -
Ventura, John Katers and Police Sergeant David Studt.
Chairman Steele welcomed recently appointed Commissioner John Katers to the
meeting.
The minutes of the meeting of April 9, 2009, were reviewed.
Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mrs. Quinn -Ventura, and approved, it was
09-16 RESOLVED That the commission minutes for April 9, 2009, be approved
as presented.
The commission reviewed the matter of NO PARKING signs on Newburgh from Joy to 8
Mile Rd.
Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. Policelli, and approved, it was
09-17 RESOLVED That the commission will postpone action on this matter until
Sergeant Studt has the opportunity to send a letter to the City Attorney
requesting an official written opinion on the necessity for NO PARKING signs on
Newburgh from Joy to 8 Mile Rd.
The commission reviewed the Speed Survey on Newburgh Road submitted by the
Police Department.
Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. Katers, and approved, it was
09-18 RESOLVED That the commission approves raising the speed limit on
Newburgh Rd. from 40 mph to 45 mph between Joy Rd. and 8 Mile Rd.
The commission reviewed the Police Department's request regarding NO PARKING
signs on Levan between Plymouth and 5 Mile Rd.
Upon a motion by Mrs. Quinn -Ventura, seconded by Mr. Policelli, and approved, it was
09-19 RESOLVED That the commission postpones its decision regarding NO
PARKING signs on Levan between Plymouth and 5 Mile Rd. until Sergeant

Sludl receives a written response from the City Attorney regarding NO PARKING
signs on Newburgh Rd.
The commission discussed replacement of NO PARKING signs near schools and
made the following resolution.
Upon a motion by Mr. Katers, seconded by Mr. Priddy, and approved, it was
09-20 RESOLVED That the commission approves the installation of new NO
PARKING signs to show NO PARKING 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on School Days at
Hubbard and Perth and Brookfield and Perth.
Upon a motion by Mrs. Quinn -Ventura, seconded by Mr. Draper, and approved, it was
09-21 RESOLVED That the commission approves the following Traffic Control
Orders:
Control Order #09-07 Permanent Section 31
Remove NO PARKING SCHOOL DAYS on west side of Hix south of Ann Arbor
Road (rescind TCO 00-07)
Control Order #09-08 Permanent Section 22
Install NO PARKING STOPPING STANDING in front of Jackson Center on the
south side of Lyndon, from the eastern drive to 30 feel west of the western drive.
Control Order #09-09 Permanent Section 29, 30
Install 40 MPH speed limit on Levan from Plymouth to 5 Mile.
Control Order #09-10 Permanent Section 33
Install 25 MPH speed limit sign for westbound West Chicago west of Wayne.
Upon a motion by Mrs. Quinn -Ventura, seconded by Mr. Kalers, and unanimously
adopted, it was
RESOLVED that the meeting be adjourned at 8:45 pm.
