HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2009-02-12NIPWTES OF THE 643rd REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION The 643rd Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor conference room at City Hall on Thursday February 12, 2009 and called to order by Chairman Joe Steele. PRESENT: Commissioners Gordon Draper, Jim Policelli, Gordon St. John, Kevin Priddy and Sergeant David Strait. Also in attendance John Raters, 32730 W. Chicago. The minutes of the meeting of January 8, 2009 were reviewed. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. Pohcelli, and approved, it was 09-04 RESOLVED, That the commission minutes for January 8, 2009 be approved as presented. The commission reviewed the request from the Police Department to install advance school warning signs on Lyndon at Garden and after discussion with Sgl.Sludl, made the following resolution. Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. Sl. John, and approved, it was 09-05 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the installation of school crossing signs on Lyndon and Garden and advance warning signs on east and westbound Lyndon and removal of stop bus. The commission reviewed the request from the Police Department to install NO PARKING signs from the west lot line of 30625 Elmira to the north lot line of 11326 Sunset (add begin and end supplementals). After discussion with Sgt.Studt, the commission made the following resolution. Upon a motion by Mr. Priddy, seconded by Mr. Police Ili, and approved, it was 09-06 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the installation of NO PARKING signs from the west lot line of 30625 Elmira to the north lot line of 11326 Sunset with the addition of begin and end supplementals. The commission will discuss at the April meeting NO PARKING signs on Newburgh from Joy to 8 Mile Rd. after they have revisited the area. The commission will review the Levan (between Schoolcraft and Five Mile) Speed Study at the April meeting. TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTES February 12, 2009 Page 2 The commission received and fled a copy of a letter from the Mayor to Amy Kirksey accepting her resignation from the Traffic Commission. Sgt. Sludt stated he had received a request to post 25 mph Speed signs on Henry Ruff south of Five Mile Rd, After discussion, the commission made the following resolution. Upon a motion by Mr. St. John, seconded by Mr. Draper, and approved, it was 09-07 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the installation of 25 mph Speed signs on Henry Ruff south of Five Mile Rd, Upon a motion by Mr. St. John, seconded by Mr. Draper, and approved, it was 09-08 RESOLVED, That the commission approves the following Traffic Control Orders: Control Order Section 09-01 Pennanen( 35 Install NO PARICING (R8 -3a) with supplemental BEGIN and END on the inside curve from; North lot Ile of 11326 to west lot fine of 30625 Elmira, and South lot Ile of 30445 Elmira to west lot line of 30445 Elmira. 09-02 Permanent 22 Remove lane usage signs (outdated R3's, 2 of them) from westbound Schoolcraft east of Farmington. (on south side of westbound Schoolcraft) 09-03 Permanent 21 Remove LANE ENDS MERGE RIGHT (W9-2) from westbound Schoolaraft west of Farmington (south side of roadway). TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTES February 12, 2009 Page 3 09-04 Permanent 13 Install 111-4 ALL WAY to three STOP signs on Terrance and Harrison. 09-05 Permanent 24 Install school crosswalk warning assembly HILL with W167p)on Lyndon at Garden. 09-06 Permanent 31 Remove SIT from Knowlson south of Ann Arbor Road. Remove SIT from Knowlson south of Marie. Upon a motion by Mr. St. John, seconded by Mr. Draper, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, That the meeting be adjourned A 830 p.m. NEXT MEETING March 12, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall Winnie Kirby, Recording Secretary
