Meeting was called to Order at 6 30 P M
Approval of August 20, 2015 Minutes A Motion to approve the minutes as written was made
by Commissioner Claypoole and seconded by Commissioner Grzebik. Motion carried
Financial Report:
A. Passbook Account Balance $ 7,377 66
B Trust Fund Account Balance $ 17,216 39
Announcements and Communications
Livonia Churchill Senior All Night Party Chairpersons sent a letter to the Youth Commission
regarding all night parties held off school grounds in an establishment that serves liquor The
commission responded that they were withholding their monetary support. As representatives
of the City of Livonia, the commission does not support any events or ads that may give
students contact with drugs, tobacco or alcohol While the commission feels they had taken
precautions that students would not be exposed to alcohol, we are unable to donate to events
that take place at establishments where alcohol is available
Old Business
A. Backpack Program — It was discussed that some Livonia churches are also initiating
backpack handouts The commission, however, felt that although they are duplicating the
program, the commission will still work with the Livonia Goodfellows and continue to hold
this program The Youth Commission provided over 200 backpacks and supplies this year
B. Holiday Party— Commissioner Nork advised that the Santa's are reserved for both
weekends A face painter's availability will be confirmed by Chairperson Spurling A
budget of$4,500 was approved for both Saturdays, November 14th and November 21St
The youth assistance program and the Livonia Police Reserves will be contacted for help
each weekend All volunteers are welcome

C Decorations for City Hall Lobby in December— Chairperson D Spurling will coordinate
getting the material At the Holiday Party the children will decorate items for the boards in
the Lobby
New Business
A. The Scholarship committee has decided to meet and revamp the criteria on the
Livonia Youth Commission/Livonia Spree Scholarship application No date has been
set, but it needs to be done by the end of year in order to put it on the City Website
B Recognition Plaques The commission has agreed to acknowledge the people and
businesses who have gone over and above in donating time, resources and money
Chairperson Spurling will contact a vendor for pricing and report back at the next
meeting A motion to research the idea was made by Commissioner Claypoole and
seconded by Commissioner Balcoff Motion Passed unanimously to pay no more
than $200
C Officers for 2016 All officers agreed to stay in their roles, therefore a motion was
made by Commissioner Claypoole and seconded by Commissioner Grzebik to
carryover the officers for the next fiscal year Motion passed
Adjournment:A motion to ad�ourn at 7 30 P M was made by Commissioner Balcoff and
seconded by Commissioner Nork. Motion carried
Next Meeting is scheduled on Monday, November 2nd at 6 30 P M
