MINUTES OF THE FIFTEENTH SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On March 31, 1952, above meeting was held at 33110 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order at approximately 8.15 P. M. by the
President of the Council, Harry S. iolfe. Roll was called with the following
result: Present-- Harry S Wolfe, Wilson W. Edgar, Raymond E. Grimm, Harvey Jahn,
Nettie Carey, William Taylor and John Whitehead Absent-- None.
The City Clerk read letters from Clarenceville Public Schools dated
March 26, 1952, and March 29, 1952, pertaining to the necessity for sewers in
the Clarenceville area, particularly in order that a new elementary school may be
constructed.
By Councilman Edgar, seconded by Councilman Jahn and unanimously adopted
ILI; as follows, it was.
A 9 '76- RESOLVED, that the City Engineer, Herald Hamill, prepare
and submit to the Council plans, specifications and report on
Sewage Disposal System No 4 to serve the Clarenceville area,
Section No. 1 and adjoining territory; and that, if possible, the
proposed Sewage Disposal Systems No 3 and No 4 be combined as far
as procedure and financing is concerned, in order to reduce delay
and expense, the Council having sometime ago authorized the preparation
of plans on Sewage Disposal System No 3 to serve the central area of
the city

adopted as follows, it was:

The City Clerk, Marie W Clark, read to the Council a proposed letter
116 signed by her and dated March 29, 1952, appointing Juanita Hillas as Deputy Clerk
By Councilman Jahn, seconded by Councilman Whitehead and unanimously adopted as
follows, it was:
A- 977 RESOLVED, that the appointment of Juanita Hillas as Deputy
Clerk of the 'ity of Livonia, pursuant to Section 9 of Chapter V of
the Charter be and hereby is confirmed
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result.
AYES: Grimm, Edgar, Carey, Whitehead, Taylor, Jahn & Wolfe
NAYS• None.
By Councilman Jahn, seconded by Councilman Carey and unanimously adopted
as follows, it was.
R ?72P RESOLVED, that a permanent name plaque for those who lost their
lives in the World War II and in the Korean War be built into the new
City Hall and that the Architect, Ralph R. Calder, be consulted as to the
size and location of such plaque

as follows, it was:
A 9'7°7 RESOLVED, that Mayor Jesse Ziegler be requested to invite the
Chairman of Wayne County Library Commission to meet with the Council
on April 28, 1952
By Councilman Jahn, seconded by Councilman Whitehead and unanimously adopted
as follows, it was.
WO RESOLVED, that the Director of Public Safety, James L. Hagen,
negotiate with Bill Brown, Inc in an effort to obtain a larger station
wagon for the local Red Cross Unit then the one heretofore ordered
By Councilman Carey, seconded by Councilman Whitehead and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was:
19 Gig) RESOLVED, that the Director of Public Works, Lester French,
together with the City Engineer, Herald Hamill, consult with representatives
of General Motors and Ford Motor Company concerning the construction of a
storm sewer to serve the Southeastern section of the City, that a
preAiminary survey be made in connection with such storm sewer and that
a report be given to the Council
On motion of Councilman Jahn, seconded by Councilman Carey and unanimously
passed, the meeting was adjourned at 9:40 P M , March 31, 1952.
