MINUTES OF THE FIFTY-SIXTH REGULAR MEETING
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On December 3, 1951, above meeting was held at 33110 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order at approximately 8:00 P. M. by the
President of the Council, Harry S Wolfe Roll was called with the following
result. Present-- Harry S Wolfe, Wilson W. Edgar, Raymond E. Grimm, Harvey
Jahn, Nettie Carey, John Whitehead and William Taylor Absent-- None
Minutes of the 55th regular meeting of the Council held on November
30, 1951, were read and approved
Councilman Grimm made a report on progress in completing new
Building Code.
Councilman Edgar as Chairman of the Insurance Committee, read and
submitted a report on insurance and submitted new insurance policies for
the coming year He mentioned the premature action on the part of the Civil
Service Commission in relation to hospitalization and group insurance. City
Attorney, William Brashear, was requested to write to the Civil Service
Commission in connection with this matter.
Mrs Mabel Ault, Chairman of American Red Cross Motor Service
and Mrs. Lingeman, Co-Chairman, appeared before the Council and made a detailed
statement in connection with the need for a station wagon.
By Councilman Jahn, seconded by Councilman Edgar and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was:
19-7')3 RESOLVED, that the City of Livonia advertise for bids
for a station wagon, either Ford, Chevrolet or .'lymouth, and
large enough to accommodate eight persons.

adopted as follows, it was.

A 771/ RESOLVED, that the following copies of letters
lio written by Hubbell, Roth & Clark, Inc , pertaining to completion
of concrete pavement in Thomas Elliot Subdivision, one letter
dated November 29, 1951, addressed to Elliot Homes, another letter
dated November 30, 1951, addressed to the City of Livonia and
another letter dated November 30, 1951, addressed to Abstract &
Title Guaranty Company, be referred to Herald Hamill, City Engineer,
for his investigation and report
By Councilman Taylor, seconded by Councilman Grimm and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was:
R 7'15 RESOLVED, that Petition No 14 of Louis Savage for
change of zoning classification be referred to the City Planning
Commission for hearing thereon and recommendations according to
law
With the consent of all present, Petition No. 45 for change of
zoning classification, was referred to the City Attorney in order that such
petition might be properly corrected to show name of owner.
Communication from Councilman Whitehead dated December 3, 1951,
was read and considered By Councilman Jahn, seconded by Councilman Grimm
and unanimously adopted as follows, it was:
�} 7 7 '(' RESOLVED, that the communication from Councilman
Whitehead dated December 3, 1951, be referred to the City
Engineer for his investigation and report.
By Councilman Grimm, seconded by Councilman Edgar and unanimously
adopted as follows, it was:
A 77kko RESOLVED, that this meeting be adjourned until 7:30
P.M. on Wednesday, December 5, 1951, and be continued beyond
8.00 P M on said date as a joint session with the City Planning
Commission, which will meet at 8:00 P. M. on December 5, 1951.
The time of adjournment was 10:32 P M
