MINUTES OF THE FIRST SPS CIAL MEETING
OF TT-IE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
AUGUST 4, 1950
The first special meeting of the Council of the City of
Livonia was held on August 4, 1950 at 33110 Five Mile Road, Livonia,
Michigan. The meeting was called to order at approximately 9.25 P Y.
by the President of the Council, Harry S Wolfe The roll was called
110 with the follow ung result: Present-- Harry S Jolfe, "a'ilson W Edgar,
Raymond E Grimm, Harvey Jahn, Nettie Carey, William Taylor and John
Whitehead; absent--none.
Following are the resolutions passed by the Council at
III this special meeting:
On motion of John Whitehead, seconded by William Taylor,
and unanimously carried, it was
6-f19 RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Commission
be authorized to advertise for the services of a full
time secretary and the services of a part time secretary.
Go Such secretaries being hired_to work for the several
departments of the City of Livonia
On motion of Raymond E. Grimm, seconded by Wilson U.
Edgar and unanimously carried, it was
A-/,td RESOLVED, that any and all contracts and agree-
ments made with Special Police officers by the Township
Board and the Township, and continued by the City Council
be terminated as of midnight, August 5, 1950; and that
all of the authority and rights of such Special Police
terminate as of the last mentioned date; and that after
such date only such persons being duly certified by the
Civil Service Commission shall serve in the capacity of
Police Officers
and that a notice of this resolution be given to ''r John iy Creedon
Special Traffic Control Officer on August 6, 1950.

On motion of John Whitehead, seconded by Taylor,
and unanimously carried the meeting was adjourned Time of adjourn-
ment being 10 22 P M
