MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-SIXTH REGULAR
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On November 25, 1957, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order at approximately. 8:30 P. M., by the
President of the Council. Roll was called with the following result: Present--
Austin T. Grant, Frank O'Neill, ydney B. Bagnall, Rudolf R. Kleinert,David L.Jones,
Peter A. Ventura and John T. Daugherty. Absent-- None.
By Councilman Ventura, seconded by Councilman Bagnall, it was
#926-57 RESOLVED that, the m1nutes of the 225th regular meeting of the
Council of the City of Livonia held November 11, 1957, are hereby approved
as submitted.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Ventura, Daugherty, O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert and Grant.
NAYS: Jones.
The President declared the resolution adopted.
Mayor Brashear spoke in explanation of his veto of resolution #891 -57.
Marie W. Clark, City Clerk, read the opinion, dated November 25, 1957,
from William N. Ponder, City Attorney, relative to the proposed building ban.
by Councilman Ventura, seconded by Councilman Daugherty, it was
RESOLVED that, the Mayor's veto dated and filed with the City
Clerk on November 12, 1957, abating action taken by this Council in
resolution #891 -57 adopted at the regular Council meeting on November
11, 1957, has been considered, and exercising the authority and power
vested in the Council by Chapter IV, Section 2L. of the City Charter,
the Council does herein resolve to override such veto and readopt the
action taken in Council resolution #89) -57; and that effective immediately
the issuance of building permits is hereby prohibited in that area of
the City bounded by the following streets: Inkster Road on the East,
Stark Road on the West, Joy Road on the South and Schoolcraft Road on
the North, until such time as proper storm water drainage facilities
are available.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Ventura, Daugherty and Jones.
NAYS: O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert and Grant.

The President declared the resolution denied.
On motion of Councilman Ventura, seconded by Councilman O'Neill and
unanimously adopted, this adjourned 226th regular meeting of the Council of the
City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 9:26 P. M., November 25, 1957.
