HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1957-09-12 SPECIAL Page 3035 MINUTES OF THE FORTIETH SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA On September 12, 1957, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, pursuant to Chapter IV, Section 8, of the Charter of the City of Livonia, and with the consent of all members, was called to order by the President of the Council at approximately 10:10 P. M. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Austin T. Grant, Frank O'Neill, Sydney B. Bagnall, Rudolf R. Kleinert, David L. Jones, Peter A. Ventura and John T. Daugherty. Absent-- None. The following resolution was unanimously introduced and unanimously adopted by the Council: #695-57 WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Livonia have just learned with great shock and deep sorrow of the passing of Mayor Albert E. Cobo of the City of Detroit, a civic leader whose un- selfish devotion to duty, exceptional abilities and untiring efforts have greatly contributed to the dynamic progress and growth of the City of Detroit and the entire Metropolitan Area; whose name has become known throughout the entire nation as an outstanding municipal statesman; whose leadership and sincerity have caused hisprograms to be followed by the great majority of people in all walks of life regardless of party, race or creed, and who was loved and respected by everyone; NOW, THEREFOEh, BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution be spread at length upon the minutes of this meeting as an everlasting expression of the deep loss felt by the City of Livonia and the Detroit Metropolitan Area, and that certified copies of this resolution, signed by the members of this Council and the Mayor be transmitted to the Detroit City Council and the families of Mayor Cobo. On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, this 40th special meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 10:18 P. M., September 12, 1957. T."—z m.
