HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1958-04-10 Page 3350 MINUTES OF THE TWO HUNDRED FORTY-FIRST REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA On April 10, 1958, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order at approximately 8:22 p. m. by the President of the Council. Councilman Kleinert delivered the invocation. Roll was called with the following result: Present -- Austin T. Grant, Frank O'Neill, Sydney B. Bagnall, Rudolf R. Kleinert, David L. Jones, Peter A. Ventura and John T. Daugherty; Absent -- None. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman O'Neill and unanimously adopted, it was #221-58 RESOLVED, that the minutes of the 240th regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia held March 31, 1958, are hereby approved as submitted. An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Vacating Portions of Street, Alley and Public Ground", introduced by Councilman Ventura on March 31, 1958, was taken from the table and a roll call vote conducted thereon with the following result: AYES: O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert, Jones, Ventura, Daugherty and Grant. NAYS: None. The President declared the ordinance duly adopted and will become effective on date of publication. An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Amending Section 5.1 of the Traffic Ordinance, Ordinance No. 21, as amended, of the City of Livonia", introduced by Councilman Kleinert on March 31, 1958, was taken from the table and a roll call vote conducted thereon with the following result: AYES: O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert, Jones, Ventura, Daugherty and Grant. NAYS: None. The President declared the ordinance duly adopted and will become effective on date of publication. Page 3351 By Councilman Ventura, seconded by Councilman Jones and unanimously adopted, it was #222-58 RESOLVED, that the rules of order of the Council are suspended in order to consider a matter not on the agenda. By Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman Kleinert, it was #223-58 RESOLVED, that pursuant to the request of the Chairman of the Traffic Commission and having considered the letter dated March 31, 1958, to the City Clerk from S. J. Levine, Metropolitan District Traffic Engineer, the Council does herein agree to par- ticipate to the extent of 1/3 of the cost of installing and main- taining a traffic signal device at the intersection of M-14 (Plymouth Road) and Hubbard Road, and also to participate to the same extent in the installation of an overhead sign with "No Left Turn" legend on Plymouth Road and the Council does hereby transfer from the Unappropriated Surplus to the Traffic Control Account of the Budget the sum of $670.00 to cover the cost of the above in- stallations; and further, the Council does herein request the City Clerk to send two certified copies of this resolution to Mr. Samuel J. Levine, Metropolitan District Traffic Engineer, 17405 Lahser Road, Detroit 19, Michigan. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert, Jones, Ventura, Daugherty and Grant. NAYS: None. Mayor William W. Brashear made the following statement to the Council: Mr. President and Members of the Council: At this last meeting of this Council, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the cooperation, courtesy and respect you have given me during the last two years; and I wish each of you the best of luck in your future endeavors. On motion of Councilman Ventura, seconded by Councilman Jones, and unanimously adopted, this 241st regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 8:30 p. m.
