MINUTES OF PUBLIC HEARING ON VARIOUS PETITIONS TO AMEND
ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 543
On October 12, 1966, the above hearing was held at the City Hall, 33001
Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the
Council at approximately 8:20 P. M. Present--Peter A. Ventura and Rudolf R. Kleinert.
Absent--Edward H. McNamara, Jerry Raymond, Robert F. Nash, Jack Salvadore, and
Edward G. Milligan.
Pursuant to Section 23.06 of Ordinance No. 543, the Zoning Ordinance, the
City Clerk has duly published and mailed notices fifteen (15) days prior to the hear-
ing date to those persons in the area affected by the proposed changes and all other
requirements of Ordinance No. 543, the Zoning Ordinance, have been fulfilled.
The President stated that in accordance with the provisions set forth in
Section 4 of Act 207 of the Public Acts of Michigan of 1921, as amended, the City
Zoning Act. (M.S.A. Section 5.2934), as well as Article XXIII of Ordinance 543, the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Livonia, the Council of the City of Livonia is hold-
ing a public hearing relative to requests for various changes of zoning within the
City.
There were approximately fifteen people in the audience.
The following four petitions were discussed as a group:
Petition No. 66-3-6-5 initiated by the Planning Commission pursuant to
Council Resolution #1161-65 to determine whether or not to amend Ordinance No. 543
by obviating the necessity presently provided for City Council approval on requests
made for Grants of Waivers (Waiver Uses);
Petition No. 66-4-6-8 initiated by the City Planning Commission on its own
motion to determine whether or not to amend Ordinance No. 543, as amended, the Zoning
Ordinance, so as to add thereto a new Article XXVI which would establish R-8 Districts
and which would regulate the construction of multiple dwellings which are three stories
in height;
Petition No. 66-4-6-7 initiated by the City Planning Commission on its own
motion to determine whether or not to amend Ordinance No. 543, as amended, the Zoning
Ordinance so as to add thereto a new Article XXVII which would establish P.O. Districts
pertaining to the regulation of professional office buildings over three stories in
height;

Petition No. 66-5-6-9 initiated by the City Planning Commission on its
own motion to determine whether or not to amend Ordinance No. 543, as amended, the
Zoning Ordinance, so as to add thereto a new Article XXVIII which would create and
regulate C-4 Districts (High-rise commercial buildings over two stories in height).
Questions and comments from interested persons were given due consideration
by the Council, a transcript of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk.
There being no further comments, the public hearing was declared closed at
approximately 8:55 P. M., October 12, 1966.
