HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1970-07-13 SPECIAL 11451 LMINUTES OF THE ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-NINTH SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter IV of the City Charter, the above meeting was held July 13, 1970, at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at approx- imately 8.00 P. M. . Roll was called with the following result: Present--Robert F. Nash, Jerry H. Brown, Edward G. Milligan, Jerry Raymond, Robert D. Bennett and *Peter A. Ventura. Absent--Robert E. McCann. Elected and appointed officials present: Edward H. McNamara, Mayor; Addison W. Bacon, City Clerk; Harry C. Tatigian, City Attorney; Robert Osborn, Director of Public Works; William J. Strasser, City Engineer; Robert Turner, Police L Chief; Ed Siemert, Assistant City Engineer; and Victor C. Phillips, Budget Director. *Councilman Ventura arrived at 8:09 P. M. By Councilman Milligan, seconded by Councilman Brown, it was #633-70 BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Livonia enter into an Agreement with the Board of County Road Commissioners of the County of Wayne, Michigan, relative to the improvement of Five Mile Road from approximately One Thousand Feet east of Eckles Road easterly to Levan Road, in the City of Livonia, Wayne County, Michigan, a copy of said agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk be and the same are hereby authorized to execute the foregoing Agreement for and on behalf of the City of Livonia. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result. AYES: Brown, Ventura, Raymond, Milligan, Bennett and Nash. NAYS: None. By Councilman Raymond, seconded by Councilman Bennett, it was L #634-70 RESOLVED, that having considered a communication from the Personnel Director, dated July 9, 1970, which transmits a resolution adopted by the Civil Service Commission on July 7, 1970 wherein the Com- mission recommends that the Council concur in a proposed one year contract to be entered into by and between the City of Livonia and the Livonia Police Officers' Association, and wherein the Commission does recommend 114;2 that the Council concur in adopting the necessary amendments to the Compensation Plan, Retirement Plan, and the Insurance and Disability Plan so as to effectuate the provisions set forth in the aforesaid agreement, the Council does hereby approve of and concur in the aforesaid action, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to affix their signatures to the aforesaid contract for and in behalf of the City of Livonia and to do all other things necessary or incidental to the full performance of this resolution. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Brown, Ventura, Raymond, Milligan, Bennett and Nash. NAYS: None. By Councilman Raymond, seconded by Councilman Ventura, it was #636-70 RESOLVED, that having considered the communication from the Budget Director dated July 10, 1970, conerning the funds necessary to implement new salary rate schedules approved in Council Resolutions No. 634-70 and No. 635-70 with respect to police officers salaries, including Lieutenants and Sergeants, the Council does hereby appropriate and authorize the transfer of the sum of $181,130 from the Unallocated Appropriations Account of the General Fund Budget to the following accounts as indicated: 11453 L a/c #702 a/c #717 a/c #719 a/c#722 a/c#724 a/c #768 Gross Holiday Group Pension Gun Clothing Activity Bureau Wages Pay Ins.
