Home My WebLink AboutELEC COMM 1970-01-23 MINUTES OF MEETING OF ELECTION COMMISSION OF CITY OF LIVONIA JANUARY 23 , 1970 A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held January 23, 1970 at the Livonia City Hall at approximately 4 20 P.M at which time and place the following members of said commission were present Harvey W Moelke Mayor Harry C Tatigian City Attorney Addison W. Bacon City Clerk Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III of the Charter of the City of Livonia, City Clerk, Addison W. Bacon, presided over the meeting as Chairman of the Commission. The Chairman stated that the meeting was called for the purpose of appointing Inspectors of Election at the election of February 16, 1970 to be held in the City of Livonia and setting the compensation therefore Mr. Tatigian inquired as to how the list was composed. Mr Bacon explained that the process of selecting inspectors was from those who had made application to serve on our boards, on their qualifications of service and experience. Commissioner Moelke stated, "Let the record show that there have been 294 people selected by the Chairman of this Commission and submitted for con- sideration of the Commission Further, there have been two people that this commissioner requested, in writing, be given the opportunity to serve on boards and neither have been appointed, namely, Mary Glomski, and Dorothy Wood." The Chairman stated that he did not recall having seen such a request. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, supported by Commissioner Tatigian, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that Mary Glomski and Dorothy Wood be appointed to one of the Election Boards Upon a motion by Commissioner Tatigian, supported by Commissioner Moelke, it was RESOLVED, that henceforth all future meetings of this coumdssion will be held in the office of the Mayor unless otherwise directed by action of this Commission A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result AYES Moelke, Tatigian NAYS Bacon The Chairman declared the resolution adopted. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, supported by Commissioner Tatigian, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that henceforth in the event that the City Clerk, Chairman of the Election Commission, determines to remove, for any cause whatsoever, a member of the Board of Inspectors, that the other two members of the commission be furnished with the names of such persons and the reason for such action, and at which time said action is taken. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, supported by Commissioner Tatigian, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the notification of appointment to position of Election Inspector have the signature of all members of the commission. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, supported by Commissioner Tatigian, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the following list of Election Inspectors be approved with the exception of the placing of the previously mentioned names #1 #2 Ann P. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result AYES Moelke, Tatigian NAYS Bacon Commissioner Bacon asked that the record show that in his Budget Estimate for the Election Commission for the year 1970 he had requested an adjustment in compensation of Election Inspectors at a rate of $32.00 per day for Chairmen and $28.00 per day for Inspectors, however the Mayor in his budget provided that the compensation be as stated in the 1969 Budget, namely, $28.00 for Chairman and $24.00 for Election Inspectors for the day. Upon a motion by Commissioner Moelke, supported by Commissioner Tatigian, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the City Clerk inform the Election Commission of compensation paid inspectors in other communities. Upon a motion by Couuuissioner Tatigian, supported by Commissioner Moelke, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the ballot as presented by approved. Coumdssioner Moelke requested that the record show that the Office of City Clerk, by Charter, is not required to be placed on the ballot. Upon a motion by Commissioner Tatigian, supported by Commissioner Moelke, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that this meeting stand adjourned at approximately 5.08 P.M. Addison W.
