OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
August 15, 1962
A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held
on Wednesday, August 15, 1962, at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, at
approximately 2:50 o'clock P. M., at which time and place all of the members of
said Commission:
Harvey W. Moelke - Mayor
Marie W. Clark City Clerk
Alan Walt City Attorney
were present.
The meeting was held pursuant to a resolution of the Election
Commission adopted on July 16, 1962, setting August 13, 1962 as the date of a
meeting, which date was postponed to August 15, 1962 by mutual consent of the
members of the Commission.
Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III of the Charter, the City Clerk
presided over the meeting as Chairman of the Commission.
The City Clerk threw the meeting open for discussion of whatever
business the other members of the Commission wished to take up.
Commissioner Walt expressed an opinion that a notice should be
issued and published indicating that applications are open to anyone interested
in being considered to work as an election inspector at the November 6, 1962
General Election and subsequent elections, and that the present applications
on file in the Office of the City Clerk be reassessad,re-examined and the files
be purged in order to determine if applicants presently listed are still in-
terested in working as election inspectors.
Upon motion of Harvey W. Moelke, seconded by Alan Walt, it was
RESOLVED, that the Election Commission call for new
applications from all parties interested in being considered for
selection and working as Election Inspectors in the forthcoming
election and subsequent elections and that all applications on
file as of August 15, 1962 will no longer be considered for selection
for appointment as Election Inspectors; that the Chairman of the
Election Commission, on behalf of the Commission, place a notice
in The Livonian Observer for three (3) consecutive weeks, indicating
that applications for appointment as Election Inspector are being
taken by applying in person at the City Clerk's Office, City Hall,
City of Livonia; and further, the Chairman of the Election Commission
may mail out to all persons whose applications are presently on file
with the City Clerk for appointment as Election Inspector, a form
for such applicant to indicate whether or not he or she desires to
remain on the list of eligible applicants for Election Inspector,
and if such applicant returns said form to the City Clerk indicating
that he or she desires to remain eligible for appointment as election
inspector, the application for such person returning such application
form shall be continued in full force and effect, anything to the
contrary stated herein notwithstanding.
AYES: Moelke and Walt.
NAYS: Clark.
LThe Chairman declared the resolution adopted.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on
motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned
at approximately 3:45 o'clock P. M., August 15, 1962.
