February 17, 1955
A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held
on Thursday, February 17, 1955, at 8:50 A. M., at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia,
Michigan, at which tine all of the members of said commission:
Elbert M. Hartom - Mayor
Marie W. Clark - City Clerk
Russell C. Ashmore - City Attorney
were present in person.
Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III of the Charter, the City Clerk
presided over the meeting as Chairman of the Commission.
Careful consideration was given to the letter from Secretary of State
Lim James M. Hare, dated February 11, 1955, and the opinion of Attorney General
Thomas M. Kavanagh, dated February 3, 1955.
On motion of Mr. Ashmore, supported by Mayor Hartom, it was
RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby inst ructed by
the election commission to submit the list of election inspectors
who will serve as inspectors, on the biennial spring primary
election to be held Monday, February 21, 1955, together with
their names and political affiliations, to the Secretary of State.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Hartom and Ashmore.
NAYS: Clark.
The Chairman declared the resolution adopted.
On motion of Mr. Ashmore, supported by Mayor Hartom and unanimously
adopted, it was
RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be instructed to inform
Secretary of State James M. Hare, that the election commission
has complied with Section 6.341 of Michigan Statutes Annotated,
being the election law.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, on
motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned
at 9:15 A. M., February 17. 1955.
