Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 6:32 p.m.

Motion 8-25-1
was made by Karczewski and seconded by J. Valentine to approve the minutes of the
meeting held on July 28, 2015. Approved.
Treasurer Report:
Swish
– The Commission has spent a total of $13,564 from their general fund account along with
$5,000 from their Trust which includes all of MFTH. A balance of $2,685.18 is left in their general

fund account. approved and filed.
Gallery/City Hall:
Karczewski- Gallery
–August is hosting Michael Coppa, artist. The Michigan Arts Center will display
ceramics in August.
J/P Valentine- City Hall
– In August, Dorothy Amberger is displaying in the lobby. In September,
Beverly Johnson, Al Weber and Betty Lewis will be in the lobby. Booked up to December 2016.
Fine Arts Exhibition:
Karczewski
–Applications have started to arrive. Jurying will be done in September. The notification
of the Fine Arts Exhibition via postcards was well received, with very few issues. Duggan suggested
that instead of printing programs, that there would be a power point presentation. They would show it
on two large TV screens for viewing. He would paper print 50 copies of the program for those who
would still like paper copies. Burton Manor will provide the catering again this year.
MFTH:

Duggan –
The final concert will be this Thursday, August 27. TJ Thomas and the Kentucky Strait
(Country) will be the entertainment and the Bench Pub and Buffalo Wings will donate the food and
beverage. Eno will write letter to Observer editor thanking everyone who helped with MFTH.

School Incentives/Grants:

– No report. Will table until September
Media/ Social Media:
Leeper -
is currently advertising Art Commission Events on: Creative Many (formerly Art Serve) for
the Fine Art Exhibition entries, and MFTH e mail blasts; Ann Arbor with Kids; and MLIVE. If anyone
has any other suggestions, email Leeper.
Shares, people invited and likes are needed on the Facebook page to promote traffic to our events.

is suggesting that during the slow months, the commission could do a bio on each commissioner for
the web site/Facebook.
Old Business –

Environmental Sculpture
: Eno reported that the 16 District Court probationers are not able to
assist with the work needed on the rusty railings. D. Spurling is seeking someone to sandblast the
railings, not merely wire brushed. Ongoing investigation is needed for a sand blaster, an operator
and cost.
Solicitation Letter
– To be tabled until September meeting.
New Business

State of the City
will be on Wednesday, September 16. All commissioners have agreed to go.
