PUBLIC HEARING RE APPLICATION FOR INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES
EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE, SUBMITTED BY GENERAL MOTORS, GM
POWERTRAIN — LIVONIA OPERATIONS, FOR THE FACILITY LOCATED AT
12200 MIDDLEBELT ROAD.

On Monday, July 23, 2003, the above hearing was held at the City Hall,
33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by Council
President Engebretson at 7 00 p m Present: Don Knapp, Val Vandersloot,
Linda M Dolan, Gerald Taylor, Maureen Miller Brosnan and Jack Engebretson
Absent: Joe Laura
Council President Engebretson stated that this was a public hearing on
the question whether to approve the Application for Industrial Facilities
Exemption Certificate by General Motors Corporation, GM Powertrain — Livonia
Operations, for the investment in machinery and equipment to perform various
machining operations for a V8 engine block at their facility located at 12200
Middlebelt Road, within City of Livonia Industrial Development District No 2
There were nine (9) individuals present in the audience regarding this
matter
Questions and comments from interested persons were given due
consideration by the Council, a transcript of which is on file in the Office of the
City Clerk.
The Public Hearing was declared closed at 7 12 p m , on Wednesday, July
23, 2003 222

CR 244-03 RESOLVED, that having considered a communication from
the Chairperson of the Livonia Arts Commission and the Director of
Community Resources, dated May 19, 2003, approved for submission by
the Mayor, which requests permission to display signs announcing the
annual Arts and Crafts Festival at the Greenmead Historical Village to be
held on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, 2003, which signs are to
be 18" x 24" in size and which will be displayed at all major intersections in
the City from Friday, May 30, 2003, through Monday, June 9, 2003, the
Council does hereby grant and approve this request in the manner and
form herein submitted, with the understanding that no sponsor names
shall be listed on the signs
Carrie Spurling, representing the Arts Commission, was present at the meeting to
answer questions of the Council
Councilmember Brosnan congratulated Emilia McCotter and Rory Brosnan on their
upcoming graduation from the Montessori Center of Our Lady Kindergarten Program
On a motion by Brosnan, seconded by Taylor, and unanimously adopted,
this 1,489th Regular Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was adjourned at
10 08 p m , May 21, 2003
