ASPHALT PAVING PROGRAM

CONTRACT 09-A
Sealed proposals for the 2009 LIVONIA REHABILITATION/RECONSTRUCTION
PAVING PROGRAM: Contract 09-A, will be received at the Livonia City Hall, 33000 Civic
Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan 48154 until 2:00 P.M., Michigan Time, on Tuesday, March
17, 2009 at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
The City of Livonia seeks proposals for the following:
The rehabilitation or reconstruction of designated City streets. Work includes
removing, cold milling, or pulverization the existing Hot Mix Asphalt pavement
surface, placing new aggregate base, full depth PCC slab removal and replacement,
placing new Hot Mix Asphalt surface, minor drainage improvements, driveway
restoration, surface restoration, and maintaining traffic.
The approximate quantities for some of the major items of work for this project are as follows:
Pavement Removal 16,900 Square Yards
Station Grading 58 Stations
Cold Milling HMA Surface 16,100 Square Yards
Misc Preparing Pavt 181 Stations
Hot Mix Asphalt, 13A 10,600 Ton
Pavt Repr, Nonrein£ Cone, 7 inch, Mod 4,800 Square Yards
Curb & Gutter, 24" Wide 5,400 Feet
Sidewalk Ramp, ADA 5,200 Square Feet
Proposals, contract forms, plans and bid specifications under which the work will be done may
be obtained, starting Monday March 2, 2009 from the Office of the City Engineer, 33000
Civic Center Drive, Livonia, MI 48154. Prospective bidder's phone number, facsimile number,
street address, and the name of the individual or firm to whom addenda, if any, can be directed
are required. A nonrefundable fee of $35.00 or a nonrefundable fee of $40.00 is required if
mailed is required for the Contract Bid Documents. Payment shall be made by check only.
Each proposal shall be accompanied by a certified check in the amount of 5% of the total bid,
payable to the City as security for the acceptance of the contract. A bid bond in the Michigan
Standard Form, issued by an approved Surety Company, may be furnished in lieu of a certified
check.

All bids shall be opened publicly at the date and time specified. Each bid shall be recorded
together with the name of the bidder. Bids shall be in accordance with the requirements of this
notice in order to be deemed "responsive."
Bids are to be submitted in a sealed envelope, plainly marked "BID — 2009 ASPHALT
LIVONIA ROAD REHABILITATION/RECONSTRUCTION PAVING PROGRAM:
CONTRACT 09-A" and received by the City Clerk on or before the time and date given above.
No bidder may withdraw his proposal within 120 calendar days after the date set for opening
thereof. The right to accept any bid, to reject any or all proposals and to waive defects in
proposals is reserved by the City of Livonia. Portions of this Contract may be deleted due to
unforeseen circumstances without compensation.
