HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF CANVASSERS 1953-02-19 Page 1026 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, the members of the City Council of the City of Livonia met as the Board of Canvassers of such City on Thursday, February 19, 1953, at 8:22 P M. at the City Hall, 33110 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan The meeting was called to order at the above time and place by the President of the Council, Harry S. Wolfe, who acted as Chairman of the Board Roll was called with the following result Present-- Harry S Wolfe, Wilson W Edgar, Nettie Carey and William Taylor. Absent-- Raymond E. Grimm, Harold Bower and John Whitehead The City Clerk read to the board the contents of certified statements of the returns of each precinct, as prepared and certified by the election inspectors of each precinct and as filed in her office and these returns were publicly examined and canvassed by the board, and were approved. 11:11 By Councilman Taylor, seconded by Councilman Edgar and adopted as follows, it was: #381 RESOLVED, that the following statement of votes cast in the election held on February 16, 1953. THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST WITHIN THE CITY OF LIVONIA ON THE FOLLOWING QUESTION. "SHALL ORDINANCE NO 60 OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON OCTOBER 28, 1952, BE ADOPTED?", WAS FOUR THOUSAND TWENTY-SEVEN VOTES 4,027 AND THE ABOVE VOTES WERE CAST FOR "YES" AND "NO" ANSWERS TO SAID QUESTION AS FOLLOWS: PRECINCT NO. 1 - THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 380 TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 235 INJ PRECINCT NO 2 - FIVE HUNDRED TWELVE "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 512 THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 381 Page 1027 PRECINCT NO. 3 - FIVE HUNDRED TWELVE "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 512 ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-TWO "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 162 PRECINCT NO. 4 - TWO HUNDRED TWENTY "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 220 ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 186 PRECINCT NO 5 - ONE HUNDRED FORTY-EIGHT "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 148 TWO HUNDRED ONE "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 201 PRECINCT NO 6 - TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 253 TWO HUNDRED ONE "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 201 PRECINCT NO. 7 - FOUR HUNDRED THIRTY-SEVEN "YES" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 437 ONE HUNDRED NINETY-NINE "NO" VOTES WERE RECEIVED 199 TOTAL 4,027 be and hereby is approved and certified in each and every respect A roll call vote was conducted on the foregoing resolution with the following result AYES. Edgar, Taylor, Carey and Wolfe NAYS• None. Chairman Wolfe declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that certified copies of the same be prepared and signed by each member of the Board. By Councilman Edgar, seconded by Councilman Carey and adopted as follows, it was: #382 RESOLVED, that the Board of Canvassers make and sign the following certificate. CERTIFICATE OF DETERMINATION STATE OF MICHIGAN ) ) SS. COUNTY OF WAYNE ) We, the undersigned members of the City Council, acting as the Board of Canvassers pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, do hereby meet on this first Thursday following the City Election held on February 16, 1953, and publicly canvass the returns of such election, and do hereby determine the result of such canvass Page 1028 and the results of the votes cast within the City of Livonia on the following question. "Shall Ordinance No 60 of the City of Livonia, ILknown as the Zoning Ordinance and adopted by the City Council on October 28, 1952, be adopted?" and do hereby determine that said Ordinance No. 60 was duly adopted by a vote of 2462 "Yes" votes to 1565 "NO" votes We further certify that this meeting was attended by Councilmen Harry S Wolfe, Wilson W Edgar, William J. Taylor and Nettie Carey, who constituted a quorum; that Councilmen Raymond E Grimm, Harold A. Bower and John W. Whitehead were absent, and that this meeting was held at the City Hall, 33110 Five Mile Road, at 8:22 P. M. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have hereunto attached our signatures this 19th day of February, 1953. ILA roll call vote was conducted on the foregoing resolution with the following result. AYES: Edgar, Taylor, Carey and Wolfe. NAYS.
