HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF CANVASSERS 1962-05-05 Page 5372 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA ibro Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, all the members of the City Council of the City of Livonia met as the Board of Canvassers of such City on Thursday, April 5, 1962, at approximately 8:40 P. M., at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at the above time and place by the President of the Council, Sydney B. Bagnall, who acted as Chairman of the Board. The City Clerk, Marie W. Clark, read to the Board the contents of certified statements of the returns of each precinct, as prepared and certified by the election inspectors of each precinct and filed in her office and these returns were publicly examined and canvassed by the Board, and were approved. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Ponder, it was RESOLVED that, the following Statement of Votes cast in the regular City election held on April 2, 1962: THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS SEVENTEEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY-TWO 17,282 AND THEY WERE GIVEN FOR THE FOLLOWING NAMED PERSONS: HARVEY W. MOELKE RECEIVED EIGHT THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX 8,736 WILLIAM W. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Ponder, it was RESOLVED that, the following statement of votes cast in the Page 5376 regular City election held on April 2, 1962, for amendment to the Charter: THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST WITHIN THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS SEVENTEEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TEN (17,110): YES NO The total number of votes cast on Proposal #1 was 15,889, and they were given in the following way: 5,581 10,308 be and hereby is approved and certified in each and every respect. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann, Daugherty, Ponder, Kleinert and Bagnall. NAYS: None. The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that certified copies of the same be prepared and be signed by each member of the Board. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Ponder, it was RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the following certificate: CERTIFICATE OF DETERMINATION STATE OF MICHIGAN ) } ss COUNTY OF WAYNE ) We, the undersigned members of the City Councils acting as the Board of Canvassers, pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the Charter, do hereby meet on this first Thursday following the regular City election held on April 2, 1962, and publicly canvass the returns of such election, and do hereby determine the result of such canvass and the results of the votes cast within the City of Livonia on the following proposed amendment: Proposal #1, An amendment to collect 1/2 mill for recreational and playground purposes, and do hereby determine that said Proposal #1 was not adopted by 5,581 Yes votes and 10,308 No votes.
