HomeMy WebLinkAboutBOARD OF CANVASSERS 1964-11-05 Page 6845 MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE BOARD OF CANVASSERS OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to Section 12 of Chapter III of the City Charter, the members of the Board of Canvassers of the City of Livonia met on Thursday, November 5, 1964, at approximately 8:30 P. M., at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan . The meeting was called to order at the above place by the Chairman. Present: Milton Lebenbom, Chairman; Lawrence C. Newman, Vice-Chairman; Leonard J. Rippler; Allen J. Kovinsky, who were the members of the Board of Canvassers duly appointed pursuant to Act 65 of the Public Acts of 1963; and Addison W. Bacon, City Clerk, acting as Secretary of the Board. The Chairman determined that a quorum was present and members of each of two major political parties of the State of Michigan equally represented. Members of the Board examined and canvassed the contents of certified statements of returns of the several precincts as prepared aid certified by the election inspectors of each precinct, filed in the City Clerk's office, and approved same. By Mr. Rippler, seconded by Mr. Kovinsky, it was RESOLVED that, the following statement of votes cast in the Special City Election held in conjunction with the General Election Tuesday, November 3, 1964: THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST WITHIN THE CITY OF LIVONIA WAS THIRTY-FOUR THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED THIRTY 34,630 THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR PROPOSAL NO. 1, FIRE STATION BONDING PROPOSITION WAS TWENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED EIGHTEEN 27,618 YES 17,621 Nr 9,997 THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR PROPOSAL NO. 2 RECREATIONAL BONDING PROPOSITION WAS TWENTY•SEVEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY-FIVE 27,855 YES 15,628 NO 12,127 Page 6846 THE WHOLE NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 1 WAS TWENTY-NINE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTEEN 29,715 YES 15,887 NO 13,828 be and hereby is approved and certified in each and every respect. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Hippler, Kovinsky, Newman and Lebenbom. NAYS: None. The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that certified copies of the same be prepared and be signed by each member of the Board. By Mr. Newman, seconded by Mr. Kovinsky, it was RESOLVED that, the Board of Canvassers make and sign the following Certificates CERTIFICATE OF DETERMINATION STATE OF MICHIGAN ) ) ss COUNTY OF WAYNE ) We, the undersigned members of the Board of Canvassers of the City of Livonia, do hereby meet on this 5th day of November, 1964, this being the first Thursday following the Special City Election held on November 3, 1964, and publicly canvass the returns of such election, and do hereby determine the results of such canvass and the attached list, as identified by the signature of the Chairman of the Commission. The Chairman declared the foregoing resolution adopted and directed that such Page 6847 Certificate of Determination be prepared and signed by each member of the Board. On motion of Mr. Kovinsky, seconded by Mr. Rippler, and unanimously adopted, the meeting of the Board of Canvassers of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at approximately 8:45 P.
