HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM OF THE WHOLE 1953-01-19 MINUTES OF MEETING OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE HELD JANUARY 19, 1953 The above meeting was held at the City Hall, 33110 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and commenced at approximately 8:30 P. M. The meeting was presided over by William Taylor, who was designated as Chairman by President Wolfe. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Harry S, Wolfe, Wilson W. Edgar, Nettie Carey, John Whitehead and William Taylor. Absent-- Raymond E. Grimm and Harold Bower. The City Attorney William Brashear and John Campbell read and explained to the Council the provisions of the new proposed Heating Ordinance. Councilman Edgar made a motion that the new proposed Heating Ordinance, as prepared by the Reciprocal Heating Council, a tri-county association of over fifty municipalities, as a result of some two years study and work, be adopted by L. the City Council with such amendments and changes as have been submitted by the City Attorney. The above motion was supported by Councilman Whitehead and was adopted by a unanimous affirmative vote. Councilman Wolfe made a motion that the following resolution be recommended for adoption to the City Council: RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 3.23 of the Heating Code of the City of Livonia, Ordinance No. adopted January 26, 1953, the fees for the issuance of permits and the making of inspections required under the provisions of said ordinance are hereby fixed and determined as follows: SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR INSPECTIONS UNDER THE HEATING CODE OF THE.CITY OF LIVONIA GAS FIRED For one unit of 100,000 B.T.U. or less the fee is $5.00. For each 100,000 B.T.U. up to 500,000 charge $1.00 extra over law base inspection fee of $5.00. Maximum inspection. fee per unit is $10.00. For multiple dwellings or stores $4.00 for first unit $2.00 for each additional unit up to 500,000 B.T.U. Wall furnace $5.00 for first unit $1.00 for each additional unit for any one structure. For replacement of burners an inspection fee of $3.00 is charged. Page 2. OIL BURNERS Lip For Oil Space Heaters with up to 110 gallons of storage capacity $3•�. Furnaces with up to 550 gallons oil storage capacity $5.00. For tanks from 551 to 5000 gallons $7.00. For tanks from 5001 to 20,000 is $15.00. For inspection of used tanks $6.00. For shop inspection of none labled tanks $6.00. For replacement of burners $3.00. The foregoing motion was supported by Councilman Whitehead and was adopted by a unanimous affirmative vote. Councilman Edgar made a motion that the following resolution be recommended to the Council for adoption: RESOLVED, that commencing January 1, 1953, and until the further action of the Council, the compensation of the Director of Public Safety and the Director of Public Works is hereby fixed and determined at the sum of $3600.00 each per year; and that, in order to provide funds for the payment of such compensation, there is hereby appropriated from the Unallocated Fund the following sums: to the Department of Public Safety, the sum of $2750.00 and to the Department of Public Works, the sum of $2750.00. The foregoing motion was supported by Councilman Carey and was adopted by a unanimous affirmative vote. Councilman Wolfe made a motion that the following resolution be recommended to the Council for adoption: RESOLVED, that the plaque for the new City Hall be made of bronze and that the architect be advised of this decision. The foregoing motion was supported by Councilman Carey and was adopted by a unanimous affirmative vote.
