HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM OF THE WHOLE 1952-10-20 MINUTES OF MEETING OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE HELD OCTOBER 20, 1952. The above meeting was held at the City -Ce , 33211 iii.--Seven- Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and commenced at approximately 8:13 P. M. The meeting was presided over by Nettie Carey, who was designated as Chairman by President Wolfe. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Harry S. Wolfe, Wilson W. Edgar, Nettie Carey, Harold Bower, William Taylor, Raymond E. Grimm and John Whitehead. Absent-- None. Councilman Wolfe made a motion that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLVED, that the communication from the City Planning Commission on the proposed new Zoning Ordinance be considered by the Committee of the Whole on October 24, 1952, at 8:00 P. M. The foregoing motion was supported by Councilman Whitehead and was unanimously adopted. Councilman Edgar made a motion that the following resolution be recommended to the Council for adoption: � RESOLVED, that the sum of $1,066.57 be appropriated from the Unallocated Fund to the Insurance Budget to cover additional insurance premiums. The foregoing motion was supported by Councilman Taylor and was unanimously adopted. Councilman Wolfe made a motion that the following resolution be recommended to the Council for adoption: RESOLVED, that November 2, 1952, at 2:30 P. M. be set aside the time for laying of the corner stone of the new City Hall and that a committee be appointed to assist in the program. The foregoing motion was supported by Councilman Edgar and was unanimously adopted. With the consent of all members, Councilman Carey appointed to the above committee Edgar, Taylor, Mayor Ziegler and City Attorney Brashear. Mr. Rickert, Mr. Mann and Mr. Codger appeared and discussed the garbage disposal problem. Councilman Bower made a motion that this problem be referred to the Municipal Waste Committee for further study. His motion was supported by Councilman Wolfe and was adopted by a unanimous vote. - 2 - The committee next gave consideration to the budget submitted by the Mayor for the fiscal year commencing December 1, 1952, After some discussion, it was agreed that the public hearing on such budget be set for the regular meeting on November 10, 1952, and that notice of such hearing be advertised in the Livonian on October31, 1952.
